I recently visited the Owens-Thomas House in Savannah and it was an incredible experience. This historic house museum is beautifully preserved, giving visitors a glimpse into the past and a greater appreciation for the architecture and design of the time.

The tour guides were knowledgeable and provided fascinating insights into the lives of the families who once lived there. The house is filled with stunning period furniture, artwork, and decorative pieces, all of which are incredibly well-preserved and displayed.

One of the most poignant parts of the tour was our visit to the slave quarters. These small, cramped rooms housed the enslaved people who worked at the house and on the surrounding plantations. Our guide shared stories of the people who lived here and the difficult conditions they endured, providing a sobering reminder of the history of slavery in the United States.

Another highlight of the tour was the beautiful indoor courtyard, which is surrounded by ornate ironwork and filled with lush greenery. It was a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city and a true testament to the beauty and craftsmanship of the time.

Overall, I highly recommend visiting the Owens-Thomas House. It’s a must-see for history and architecture buffs, and even those who aren’t as interested in those topics will appreciate the beauty and significance of this incredible house museum. Don’t miss out on this amazing experience when you’re in Savannah! Learn more
